Lightning rods and grounding materials

According to different damage mechanisms, the natural discharge phenomenon of lightning is manifested in two forms: “direct lightning” and “induced lightning”.

The so-called “direct lightning”: refers to lightning strikes directly on buildings, structures, trees, plants and animals, due to the electrical effect, thermal effect and mechanical effect caused by damage to buildings and other casualties. General lightning protection is through the external lightning protection devices, namely: flashover / lightning rod (lightning rod, lightning belt, lightning net, lightning line), lead wires, grounding devices constitute a complete electrical path, the lightning current into the earth.

Specific reference to the national lightning protection standards: GB50057-2010 "lightning protection design code for buildings".

Special Note: Flashover (lightning rod) is to allow the building (structure) and personnel from direct lightning strikes, can not protect the building house equipment suffered by the damage of induced lightning strikes. When selecting the product, keep in mind the protection purpose of the product and adopt a systematic lightning protection program. ♦
