According to GB500343-2004 Technical Specification for Lightning Protection for Electronic Information Systems in Buildings, the lightning protection zone (LPZ) shall be divided into: direct lightning non-protection zone, direct lightning protection zone, first protection zone, second protection zone, and subsequent protection zone, which need to comply with the following provisions:
1, direct lightning non-protection zone (LPZ0A): electromagnetic field is not attenuated, all types of buildings can be subjected to direct lightning, belonging to the completely exposed unprotected area.
2, direct lightning protection zone (LPZ0B): electromagnetic field without attenuation, all kinds of buildings rarely suffered direct lightning, is fully exposed direct lightning protection zone.
3, the first level of protection zone (LPZ1): due to the shielding measures of the building, flow through all types of conductors of lightning current than direct lightning protection zone (LPZ0B) to further reduce the electromagnetic field has been initially attenuated, all types of objects are not likely to suffer a direct lightning strike.
4. Second protection zone (LPZ2): A subsequent protection zone introduced to further reduce the induced lightning current or electromagnetic field.
5, subsequent lightning protection zone (LPZ3): the need to further reduce the lightning electromagnetic pulse to protect the more sensitive equipment subsequent protection zone.
It should be noted that: the outermost layer for LPZA or LPZB, is a direct lightning strike area, the highest risk, mainly by the external lightning protection system protection, the more to the interior of the lower the degree of risk, so in the time of doing lightning protection project should be given full consideration to lightning protection zoning.
