● There are two broad types of antennas in terms of whether they need to be powered or not:
I. “Direct Current Block” type (DC Block)::For use in passive antenna systems. Characterized by “Only in-band signals are allowed to pass, out-of-band signals and DC power do not pass.”, large through-current capacity, very low residual voltage after tuning. Use of narrow frequency bands, such as: 1.5-700MHz, 10-700MHz, 10-1000MHz, 100 - 512MHz, 125-1000MHz, 380-512MHz, 700-2700MHz, 800-2500MHz, 4.4-5.2GHz, 5.0-6.0 GHz, 5.0-6.0 GHz, etc. Commonly used 1/4 wavelength type and capacitive isolation and combination type belong to this category, and the wrong choice will result in not being able to supply power to the active antenna.
II. “Direct current feed” type (DC Pass):For use in active antenna/tower amplification systems. Features“Signal, power, pass together”, this category is subdivided into two:
♦ “Direct feed” type:GDT discharge tubes are commonly used as protection devices because of their low typical capacitance value, and usually the frequency band can be very wide, such as: 0-2.5GHz, 0-3GHz, 0-6GHz, 0-8GHz, etc., and the residual voltage is relatively high.Please note: This type should not be used when feeding the antenna with a high DC feed voltage.
“Bias-fed” type::Characterized by high inrush currents that can be suppressed and extremely low residual voltages, the“Only in-band signals are allowed to pass, out-of-band signals are not allowed to pass”, but it is possible to feed the antenna with different feed voltages.The frequency bands used are narrower, such as: 1.5-100MHz, 1.75-400MHz, 40-400MHz, 400-1200MHz, 689-2700MHz, 800-1000MHz, 800-2600MHz, 1400-1600MHz, 1200-2700MHz and so on.
:: In terms of technical characteristics::The products comprehensively cover mainstream RF connector interfaces such as 7/16 DIN (L29) type, L27, N type, 4.3-10 type, SMA type, TNC type, BNC type, etc., and can be selected according to the frequency range, VSWI/Insertion Loss requirements, RF power capacity, and the need for DC feedthroughs and other key parameters to ensure perfect compatibility with the equipment.
