Installation Precautions

1, lightning protection can be installed in the LPZ0-1 zone or directly in series installed in the front end of the protected equipment (or system), installation from the protected equipment (or system) the closer the better.

2, the lightning protector's input (INPUT) is connected to the signal line, and the output (OUTPUT) is connected to the protected equipment, and can not be connected to the opposite.

3, the PE wire of the lightning protector must be strictly equipotential connection with the lightning protection system ground, otherwise it will affect the working performance.

4. The lightning protector is grounded with the shortest possible line connection. The lightning protector grounding using the terminal grounding method, the ground wire must be connected to the lightning ground (grounding resistance value is not greater than 4 ohms). The shielded wire of the signal can be directly connected to the grounding terminal.

5, the lightning protector is installed under the conditions that do not exceed the requirements is not required long-term maintenance, only the system routine maintenance; such as in the process of use, signal transmission problems, change the lightning protector after the signal transmission back to normal, indicating that the lightning protector has been damaged, need to be repaired or replaced.

🔧 Product Functionality and Technology Category

Q1: What is the difference between an isolated network surge protector and an ordinary network lightning protector?
A: Isolated SPD adds 1.5KV electrical isolation function on the basis of traditional lightning protection, which can not only resist surge impact, but also isolate ground loop interference, potential difference interference, etc. It is more suitable for long-distance, cross-construction, multi-device interconnection network environment, and significantly improves signal purity and transmission stability.

Q2: Does this product support network speeds above Gigabit (e.g. 2.5G/10G)?
A: Currently this model is designed for 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet, it does not support 2.5G and above rate for the time being. If you need higher speed, please contact our sales staff, we have another product to support 2.5G and above.

Q3:What is the meaning of “voltage protection level ≤15V”?
A: This means that after the surge impact passes through the protector, the residual voltage is limited to 15V or less, which is much lower than the general tolerance value of the network equipment, ensuring the safety of the back-end equipment.

Q4: Does the product require external power supply?
A: Not required. The protector is passive and no additional power supply is required to protect the device.

 

📦 Installation and Use Classes

Q5: What are some common mistakes to avoid when installing?
A: The most common errors include: input and output are reversed, the ground wire is too long or poorly grounded, and homemade network patch cables are not wired according to the corresponding pins. Please be sure to install it as shown in the manual and make sure the grounding resistance is ≤4Ω.

Q6: Can one protector protect multiple network devices?
A: This model is single RJ45 interface, one-to-one protection. If you need to protect multiple devices, you can use the multi-port model or with rack-mounted centralized protection unit, currently we have 8-way, 16-way, 24-way.

Q7: Can it be installed outdoors or in a humid environment?
A: This product is IP20 rated and is suitable for indoor use or in cabinets/equipment boxes. For outdoor use, please select the outdoor model with higher protection level (e.g. IP65) or add a waterproof case/box.

Q8: Is the indicator light normal? How can I tell if the product is working?
A: This model is designed without indicator light, and the transparent working condition does not affect the signal. If the network link is abnormal/packet loss, you can short-circuit troubleshooting method to determine: if the network is restored after removing the SPD, the SPD may have been deteriorated.

Q9: Will the network be completely interrupted when the lightning protector is damaged?
A: It will. If the signal is interrupted, please check it in time, the lightning protection function may have failed and should be replaced in time.

Q10:How can I tell if the lightning protector needs to be replaced?
A: Regularly check the grounding status and appearance for any abnormality; if encountered after a lightning strike or major surge event, it is recommended to test the protection performance; daily, if the network BER increases and speed decreases, you can also check the status of the SPD.

Q11: What is the typical product lifespan?
A: Lightning protection belongs to the “expendable” protective devices, its life depends on the environment of the frequency and intensity of surge events, and there is no fixed replacement age.
